No audio on the HDMI Audio Only output

Modified on Mon, 30 Oct, 2023 at 10:57 AM

On some rare AV receivers, Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) and DTS-HD HRA audio formats do not work on the R_volution PlayerOne's HDMI Audio Only output.

For these formats, if your amplifier is too old to accept HDMI 2.0, we invite you to use an optical fiber in addition to the second HDMI output and switch to the optical fiber input of your amplifier each time you wish to view a film with this type of sound format. Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) is fully supported over optical fiber. DTS-HD HRA will be downgraded to classic DTS (Core sound).

Regarding LPCM 5.1/7.1 format, it is only supported via HDMI main output of the R_volution Player for all AV receivers. The audio processor dedicated to the R_volution Player's HDMI Audio Only output does not support this format. On the other hand, LPCM 5.1/7.1 has far too much bandwidth to be compatible with the SPDIF connection. But it is possible in this case to downmix the sound to 2.0 (stereo) via the HDMI or SPDIF output setting. You can also convert your file's audio format to Dolby Digital DTS using the free Handbrake software.
