R_video multiroom using R_share

Modified on Thu, 9 Jan at 11:07 AM

R_video offers a multiroom solution via the R_share option. With this feature, you can for example access the internal hard drive of the R_volution PlayerOne 8K player in your living room from the R_volution Player Mini player in your bedroom.

Here's how it works: all your players in the house are connected to your local network via your Internet box which acts as a "router". You can also have a dedicated router. The players can be networked via Ethernet (RJ45 network cable) as shown in the diagram below, or Wi-Fi.

To be able to access the hard drive of one of the players from another player, it is imperative that it is turned on. This may seem obvious, but we want to point it out because it is not obvious to beginners.

The initial configuration can be done on one of the players in the house. But all players that contain hard drives must be turned on for the operation.

Then, launch the R_video application. Once the application is launched, press the MENU button on the remote control and go to the first column titled "Collection". Then, click on the "Folder Management" button, located at the top of the "Collection" column.

Then, in the folder management window, click on the "+" button.

Indicate whether it is Movies, Series, Home Videos or Trailers by clicking on the dedicated button. Note that movies must be placed in a folder dedicated to movies, series in a folder dedicated to series, and the same for other types of videos.

If the player that contains the movies is turned on, an R_share button should appear. If you have multiple networked players, they will all appear with their IP address. The IP address will allow you to recognize the player if you have not changed its network name. To find the IP address of an R_volution player, go to Settings > Network.

Once the player containing the movies is identified (either by its name or by its IP address), click on the corresponding button.

Then, enter the desired hard drive, navigate to the folder containing the videos you want to add (Movies, Series, Home Videos or Trailers) and click on the "Add Folder: Movies" button (it can be Series or other type of video).

Note that if you have folders in your movies folder, they will appear below as here with the folder titled "2 Days in the Valley (1996) EN ...". Ignore it and click on the "Add folder: Movies" button (it can be Series or other type of video).

Once the folder is added to the list of your identification folders, repeat the operation for your Series and/or other types of videos, as well as your other network hard drives if you have any.

Once all network folders have been added, press the Back button to start identifying movies.

Once the identification is complete, when you click on a video, it will start playing, regardless of its location on the network, as long as the player containing the film is turned on.
